John V. Huntress was born May 3, 1957 in Elkhorn, WI to the late Dorothy and Arden Huntress. He peacefully departed this life at the Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI on October 6, 2018 at the age of 61.
John lived in Lake Geneva, WI his entire life. He graduated from Badger High School. After a motorcycle accident in 1979 that left him paralyzed he faced many obstacles, but inspired all with his positive attitude towards life. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone laugh. He loved his family and friends, was an avid dog lover, and Nascar fan.
He is survived by his brothers Bill & Tim Huntress, sister Kathy (Chuck) Dahle, nephew Brian (Jen) Dahle, niece Dawn Dahle and many wonderful close friends who were always by his side through the many struggles he faced.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Dorothy and Arden Huntress, and grandmother Helen Viney.
A visitation is scheduled on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Steinke - Lazarczyk Funeral Home (515 Center Street, Lake Geneva) from 4 to 7 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at The Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva, WI.
The family of John Huntress would like to thank Lakeland Hospital, Aurora Visiting Nurses, Holton Manor, Dr. Kolar & Dr. Peterson for all the great care he has received not only in the last few months, but over the years. We truly appreciate all that you did for him.
