Russell John Schulz, 92, passed away to eternal life on Saturday, September 22, 2018. He died peacefully at home.
He was born December 31, 1925 in Elkhorn, WI, the son of the late George and Ruby (Meyer) Schulz. Russell was one of fourteen children, growing up on a farm on Hwy 50 near Slades Corners.
Russell was a longtime resident of Lake Geneva. He enjoyed several past times, including spending time with family, playing poker, telling jokes, completing crossword puzzles, watching sporting events, being outdoors, driving his Dodge Ram truck, and feeding and watching wildlife. Many will remember him with his trademark Romance Tavern hat and pipe.
In his younger years, Russell had a milk route and cattle hauling business. He later drove an 18 wheeler Mack Truck for Quality Carriers for 22 years, where he received several awards for safe driving and the Mack Million Mile Club.
Russell was a devoted father to his daughter, Kim (John) Madaus, and step-father to Greg (Laurie) Jeffers and Mark Jeffers. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Mary Lee (Cashman), for 35 years until her death in 1993.
Russell is survived by his three children; grandchildren Alicia (Scott) Van Dyke, Gregory (Amanda) Jeffers Jr., and Chelsea (Ethan) Mahoney, and step-grandchildren Jason (Heather) Madaus, and Julie (Drew) Ferraro; great grandchildren Giselle and Evelyn Van Dyke, and step-great grandchildren Colton Hall, Nicholas, Devereaux and Samuel Madaus; brothers Myron (Lois) Schulz, Eugene (Linda) Schulz, and Glenn (Gloria) Schulz; sisters Lorainne (Eldred) Schwanz and Doris Schulz.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers Lyle, Arthur, Robert, Ralph, Gerald and Kenneth; and sisters Caryl and Marilyn.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2019 for both Mary Lee and Russell. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva. Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lake Geneva is proudly serving the family of Russell Schulz.
